GP Super Clinics are medical facilities that support general practitioners, nurses, visiting medical specialists and allied health professionals to work together, generally in a single location, to deliver better health care to local communities.
Work has recently begun on Stage 1 of the $10million South Morang GP Super Clinic, which is located on Civic Drive, near the new South Morang Train Station and adjacent to the Westfield Shopping Centre.
When completed, the new super clinic will work alongside Northern Health to improve care for clients requiring both community-based care and hospital treatment. The South Morang GP Super clinic will have a particular focus on child health, intellectually and physically disabled patients, chronic disease, and will also provide clinical placements for medical, nursing and allied health students. The clinic will also include the facilities necessary for a strong teaching, education and primary health research.
It is anticipated that stage 1 of the GP Super Clinic will be completed by late 2012.
