The Ulysses Club is a social club for motorcyclists over the age of 40. The inspiration for naming the club Ulysses comes from a poem by Tennyson. It tells how the great Greek hero Ulysses, now middle-aged and securely in charge of his kingdom of Ithaca, is getting bored with things around him and longs to go adventuring again with his old shipmates. It describes perfectly the sort of person who still has enough spark to go on riding into middle and later years!
The Club’s purpose includes:
· To provide ways in which older motorcyclists can get together for companionship & mutual support
· To show by example that motorcycling can be an enjoyable and practical activity for riders of all ages
· To draw the attention of public and private institutions to the needs and views of older riders
On Saturday 3 December, the Whittlesea Ulysses Club will be conducting their Annual Community Toy Run, departing from Horizon Church, Forest Street Whittlesea at 9.45 am.
Due to popular demand, the group will complete a slow ride past the Laurimar Shopping Centre at approx 10am. So make sure you give them a big wave as they ride past! Donations to the Toy run can be dropped off at Horizon Church, Forest St, Whittlesea.
