The 2011 Laurimar Fun Run began with a lively warm up session for participants, led by Linda Mancino.
At 9am the siren sounded and the 7km competitors raced through the Armidale Road gantry and turned right into Painted Hills Rd. From there they travelled along Hazel Glen Drive bridge, headed north along the wetlands track, ran west past the ovals and then for the real challenge, tackled the hill climb up to Eyrie Park, before heading downhill to Armidale Road to begin the second circuit.
The 3.5km runners began shortly after at 9.20am, with the 3.5km walkers bringing up the rear.
A total of 285 people entered the Fun Run, with ages ranging from 5 to 65! In some cases 3 generations of the same family ran together – a true family event.
Meanwhile, Laurimar Primary had a range of attractions on offer, with a jumping castle to entertain the kids, delicious hot pancakes and coffee, as well as massages for weary runners and refreshing cold drinks and icy poles to help them cool down.
The Fun Run concluded at 10.30am, with presentations of medals and prizes for the winners. And the winners were:
